After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Toronto, Trinity College, earning a Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in 1997. He continued his professional training at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2001.

Dr. Khan began his dental career while serving as a dental officer in the Canadian Forces from 1998 to 2007. During this time, he practiced in Halifax, Nova Scotia, providing comprehensive dental care in a structured, multidisciplinary clinical environment. His experience in the Canadian Forces allowed him to work alongside dental specialists, participate in advanced training programs, and develop a level of clinical discipline and precision that continues to define his practice today.

Following nearly a decade of military service, Dr. Khan and his wife and life partner, Dr. Sohela Vaid, relocated to Kingston, Ontario in 2007. He continued practicing dentistry while also pursuing studies in medicine — reflecting a consistent commitment to lifelong learning and an interdisciplinary understanding of patient care.
