  • Online booking — available 24/7 through our online booking portal. Secure an appointment for yourself or your family in real time, with registration forms sent to you digitally to complete before your visit.
  • By phone — call us at 905-538-8808 Monday to Saturday, 8AM to 9PM, and our front desk team will help you find a time that works.

New patients: When booking your first appointment, let us know if you have any specific concerns, dental anxiety, or accessibility requirements — we'll make sure everything is arranged in advance so your visit is comfortable from the moment you arrive.

Before You Arrive

What to bring to your first appointment

To make your first visit as efficient as possible, please bring the following:

  • Government-issued photo ID — for patient registration
  • Insurance card or benefit information — including your policy number and carrier so we can verify coverage and direct bill on your behalf
  • CDCP information — if you're enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan, bring your confirmation details
  • List of current medications — including prescriptions, supplements, and any known allergies
  • Previous dental records or X-rays — if available, these help us avoid duplicating diagnostic imaging
  • Referral letter — if you were referred to us by another dental provider
  • A list of questions or concerns — writing down anything specific ensures nothing gets forgotten during the appointment
Registration forms are sent to you digitally when you book online — completing these before your appointment saves time and lets us review your health history in advance.

What To Expect

Your first visit, step by step

1

Arrival & check-in

Our front desk team welcomes you, confirms your information, and ensures your insurance details are on file. Arrive a few minutes early for your first visit to allow time for this.

2

Health history review

Dr. Khan or a member of our team reviews your completed health history form, asks about medications or medical conditions, and discusses any dental concerns you have.

3

Comprehensive examination

A thorough oral exam — teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues — with digital X-rays taken as clinically appropriate. For new patients, this forms the baseline for your ongoing care.

4

Professional cleaning

If your appointment includes a hygiene visit with May So, RDH, a cleaning, gum assessment, and oral hygiene coaching are completed at the same appointment.

5

Treatment discussion

Dr. Khan reviews his findings clearly, explains any areas of concern, and discusses treatment options — with costs outlined before any commitment. There's never pressure to proceed immediately.

6

Next steps

Whether that's scheduling treatment, booking your next hygiene recall, or simply leaving knowing your teeth are healthy — you'll leave with a clear picture of your oral health and a plan going forward.

Insurance & Payment

Insurance & payment

Aurora Borealis Dentistry works with most major dental insurance plans and offers direct billing (assignment of benefits) to participating insurers — so in most cases you pay only your portion on the day of your appointment rather than paying in full and waiting for reimbursement.

We're pleased to accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for eligible patients. If you're enrolled and unsure what's covered, our administrative team can help you understand your benefits before treatment begins.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes — Aurora Borealis Dentistry is always welcoming new patients of all ages. You can book online or call us at 905-538-8808. No referral is required.
Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?
Yes. We're open Monday through Saturday from 8AM to 9PM — extended hours designed to accommodate busy working families and those who can't attend during standard business hours.
Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
Yes. We accept the CDCP for eligible patients and handle direct billing. If you're unsure of your eligibility or what's covered under the plan, our team can help you understand your benefits before your appointment.
How do I transfer my dental records from my previous dentist?
Simply let us know you're transferring from another practice and provide your previous dentist's contact information. We can assist with requesting your records and X-rays directly — there's typically no fee for this. Bringing any X-rays or records you already have on hand also helps.
What if I have dental anxiety?
Dental anxiety is very common and you're not alone. Please mention it when booking — we'll ensure your appointment is structured to maximise your comfort. Sedation options including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation are available for patients who need additional support. See our sedation dentistry page for more information.
Is there parking available?
Yes — free onsite parking is available at 14785 Yonge Street, Aurora, with both above-ground and underground parking options. There's no time limit on parking during your appointment.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule — we ask for at least 24 hours notice where possible so we can offer the time to another patient who may need urgent care. Call us at 905-538-8808 or reply to your appointment confirmation.
